recap/ update on my season in New Zealand

I have not blogged in a long time and thought i should get on to it!!


So last time i was on here was shortly after the world heli challenge, they had a later prize giving than the heli event, it was held in the wanaka town hall they put on an excellent night showing off all the awesome cinematography and photography from the event they also awarded the prizes. I was surprised and very stoked to be awarded the winner of the female snowboard over all.

The rest of my season went really well I did a couple of other contest which were super fun winter games Slope style and Big Air I cam in at a very close 4th on the slope day and ended up in second for the big air so i was quiet pleased with those results.

 

 Towards the end of the season Will and I decided to head to Mt Ruapehu and compete in the Extreme comp up there which is the first qualifier for the FTW (free ride world tour) we were lucky with the weather  been nice and sunny, kind of had sketchy conditions other wise but made the most of it anyways, it was a 2 day contest on two different faces I ended up winning over all so was pretty pumped on that! It was just and awesome time going back to Whakapapa the mtn I first strapped a board on at! We hiked to the crater of the Mtn it was absolutely amazing such a special place!!

To finish off my season I took part in the spring training camp held up at cardrona I rode up there with the other 4 slope style girls Shelly G,  Stefi L, Possum T, and Christy P, who are all killing it we are coached by Jody Blatchley hes great, I really enjoyed the camp and felt lucky to be apart of it!

I am still in wanaka saving up the money to head away on another winter. I am heading to Europe this summer its going to be amazing I will be doing some big mtn and some slope events over there. It will be a new and different experience and im super excited!

World Heli Challenge, Wanaka NZ

The whole experience of the heli challenge was awesome a really fun refreshing contest. All the crew involved were awesome, great people and super fun to be able to meet and go into the mtns with.

I felt really lucky and stoked that so many people supported me with my fundraiser, so I could take part in the event thanks so much if you supported me!

We were so lucky a front rolled through a few days before the event and topped up the mtns with 20cms of fresh snow yeoow

 The heli rides were so amazing it was so sick they are such amazing machines!
First day we loaded out of a farmers paddock out at Makarora 45 mins north west of wanaka we were flown up to mt Albert was beautiful and sick terrain!
We loaded the choppers on the second day off a big barge out of lake Wanaka that was very exciting :)

Couple of meters of snow in a couple of days!

We were all hanging out wondering when the snow was coming? Then a series of fronts rolled in the weather was stormy for days and the white stuff was falling even in town!

I finished up with my painting work for a few months as the snow has arrived we got some sick days up snowpark and cardrona had some sweet powder! I did a run at cardrona I had never done all the was down to pringles creek longest sickest run the snow was unreal!!

I have also been doing a fundraiser so I can enter the world heli challenge It was a week long of raffle ticket selling and promotion of the event around wanaka snow park and cardrona it went awesome the people were great and supportive thanks everyone!! I had a garage sale and drew the raffle last saturday. Thanks to all my Sponsors and friends for the great support and product you all sent for the raffle !! World Heli Challenge here I come YAY.

Just Another day in Paradise

Winter is finally here

I have been back in wanaka for a couple of months now just living! loving life keeping fit working and waiting for the snow. Its been unusually late this year all the mtns have had to push opening dates back snowpark is the only one open in the wanaka area I had a day up there and it was super fun they have done a great job snow making and getting everything up an running well most things! Cardrona opens tomorrow so im sure allot of people will be amping!

Today we woke up to snow all the way down the mtns not in town but its looking good and im sure setting up all the skifeilds with a great base! Yay winter has come!!

Scenic Hot Springs WA

This update is a bit delayed but worth the blog! When will arrived back from Switzerland I had a we adventure planned for us our friend Ryan had told me about some natural hot springs close to stevens pass ( something Will and I have been looking the last 3 season we have been to WA) so i was super excited did my research an found it was an easy hr an half hike up to the spring which was at around 4000 feet so as high as the stevens pass car park the hike was all snow there was a boot pack so it wasnt to hard we hiked with our boards an took a we romantic picnic it was a really special time <3 well worth the hike its an amazing spot!

we had such a good time up there it started to get dark on us riding back to the truck!

Anderson Creek

The last couple of weeks have been fun, I am still in Seattle heading back up to Canada in the next day or two.

I have been on a few adventures in the area spring has started to kick in so weather has been up an down not many sunny days yet still some sweet spring pow days.
We had an amazing sunny day a week or so ago Greg myself and 3 of his friends Matt, Chirs and Christina went snowmobiling to a new spot up by mt Baker called Anderson creek it was nice up there we looked across at shribers the spot we usually go to when sledding up there.

It was beautiful up there we had a good day checking out this new spot the snow was good in the shade an slightly baked in sun but we did a few things made a pat down which was fun hit some small pillows slashed some pow it was pretty sweet.

Actually there was a super close call with the matt an chris  sleds had a head on collision it was so lucky everyone was ok! Matt lost control making a highmark and was thrown off his sled free ran down the slope straight into chris an christinas sled lucky they got off in time. The sleds hit pretty hard they both still ran just got knocked up and sounded a bit louder.

It was good new place to check out an we all enjoyed the day, well be heading back there some time for sure!

This week Will went away to Switzerland for a trip with snowboard canada I dropped him at the airport wishing i could go too.
I have been hanging in seattle, the reason film boys have been here to so had a few days out with them  fun days not very productive days tho?
I went an had a fun time night riding at Stevens with our boys from up there an stayed in there cabin it was super fun, apart from the mouse that ran across me while i was trying to sleep eeeeekkkkkk!!!

Back in Seattle an we are planning on heading to shribbers the weather is looking good so we have a 5am wake up an get amongst it! ps thats way to early!! Any ways we had the big old crew greg an myself plus nick B an H bugs vaughn Jye an Jake so 8 in total 7 sleds they all wanted to build a jump so off we went found a spot an started building it was a beast took us hours!!

Sure enough just after the finishing touches were put on the jump the weather did come in bummer it start blowing hard an snowing browner ended up hitting it once perfect fs 7 to crash as he couldnt see a thing in the landing. We all hung out trying to wait for a clearing it wasnt happening so Jye Jake an myself sledded out the others wernt to far behind. Felt a bit bummed to have not hit anything on my board, but I had a super fun day sledding managed to not get stuck once stoked on that! I had a tired saw body at the end of it. Still a fun beautiful day in the mountains.

Well since last update I have just been riding crazy powder its been amazing! Tired body from riding hard and  hiking in tits deep snow, been out shooting with greg its been fun Stevens pass is awesome. We had one day sledding after a mtre snow fall it was a joke we couldnt get anywhere it was such hard work so much stucks, good learning experience tho. All this powder is good for the soul makes me feel so lucky!
